Lab No.7: Design of linear phase FIR filter using windowing method

In this experiment we design low pass and high pass linear phase FIR filter. Here we plotted magnitude and phase plot spectrum of both the filters.We observed that phase spectrum was linear. Depending upon the value of passsband attenuation we can choose windowing function: Rectangular,Bartlett,Hamming,Hanning and Blackman.

  5. Depending upon the value of Stopband Attenuation the appropriate window function such as Rectangular,Hamming,Hanning and Blackmann is to be used. Nevertheless it is a very tedious approach .

  7. Blackmann window function has the highest value of stop band attenuation

  8. Though Blackman window is more efficient than other window functions,order increases in it.

  9. Hanning window provides stop band attenuation of 44db where as Blackman window provides highest attenuation of 74db
